I have heard more than once the story that when working on the Russian Toy standard for the initial recognition of the breed in the FCI (2006), there was an idea to include another wool variety in the standard - the wire-haired one.
The way it was with dachshunds, for example.
But this idea could not be realized.
According to one version, everything was caused by Moscow dragons, which were similar in type to Toy terriers, but with a peculiarity in the arrangement of hair on the face and body. Thanks to a group of enthusiasts, a standard appeared in 1999, and in 2000 the National Club of the Moscow Dragon Breed (RKF) was created.
If we could “agree” with the author of the MD breed, perhaps there would be more of one wool variety in the RT breed...
Perhaps this is just a legend.
But the truth is always somewhere nearby.
